Creston Valley
Population 13,000 - Elevation 611m/2,005 ft

Creston, situated in a valley at the south end of
Kootenay Lake is an important business centre with a thriving diverse economy.
The Creston Wildlife Management Area is home to
an interpretive centre that offers the opportunity to learn about the numerous species of
birds, mammals and reptiles that inhabit the nearby wetlands. Interpretive walks and canoe
rides throughout the marsh are available. Other attractions include the plentiful fruit
stands and orchards in the valley, as well as tours of the Columbia Brewing Company, the
Kootenay Candle Factory and the Creston Historical Museum.
From Creston a trip up Highway 3A north will provide a beautiful scenic drive along the
east shores of Kootenay Lake. The first community you'll arrive
at is Wynndel which continues the agriculture heritage with a number of berry farms.
A little further north is Sirdar - be sure to stop at the pub and general store.
Continuing your way north, you'll arrive at the Glass House, Gray
Creek and Crawford Bay. The beauty of this area, is that it has attracted a number
of artisans, including blacksmiths, glass blowers, fibre & ceramic artists and more.
