- 2009 Touring Magazine Advertising
Project
Description: Collaborative and sectional magazine advertising in regional touring and
getaway publications. Generally the collaborative ads are coordinated by the Kootenay Rockies Tourism office and the
sections are salesperson solicited.
Rationale:
Positioning, image and top-of-mind awareness are enhanced by quality publications;
increased by 'editorial' exposure.
Target Markets:
Regional markets; RV and rubber tire; families.
Objectives:
To remain top-of-mind in key markets; to have consumers include a
Kootenay Rockies itinerary in their summer touring plans; and to
direct-sell getaway vacation packages.
Gross Budget:
$150,000
Eligible Partners:
All Partners (except Snowsports during
the summer campaigns only, unless
the Partner offers summer activities, such as mountain biking,
hiking, chairlift rides, wildlife viewing, etc.)

Description: Collaborative and sectional newspaper advertising in regional dailies and
weeklies. Generally the collaborative ads are coordinated by the Kootenay
Rockies Tourism office and the sections are salesperson
solicited.
Rationale:
Sectional advertising is targeted and cost-effective; generally placed in travel
supplements with increased shelf life; travel section advertising perfect for just-in-time
vacation information (specials, weather, etc.); all newspaper suited to direct sales for
getaway vacations short lead time planning.
Target Markets:
Regional markets; families.
Objective: To
sell vacation components directly via Partner toll-free reservations.
