Granite Pointe

Overlooking Kootenay Lake.

Overlooking one of Canada's most celebrated mountain cities, with splendid views of Kokanee Glacier Provinicial Park, the Granite Pointe Golf Club is yet another gem in the Kootenay  Rockies.  The course, which underwent a complete overhaul by acclaimed architect Bill Newis in 1993, traverses through hilly terrain and features a number of risk-reward holes requiring precise shot-making.

Unfortunately, 'precise shot-making' can be hampered by the many magnificent vistas golfers are treated to while playing the course.  The par-four 16th - which was chosen as one of the top 10 holes in BC - is a great example.  Here golfers paint their tee shots against a backdrop that includes the crystal waters of Kootenay Lake, the historic buildings of Nelson and the famed Kokanee Glacier!

Not surprisingly, many people who come to Nelson never leave.  A visit to the Granite Pointe Golf Course, capped off with a great meal in their beautiful new clubhouse, may have you longing to become a resident also!
