at Fairmont
Tight to the eastern slopes of the Columbia Valley, with velvety
fairways and green sites positioned near emerald lakes, Mountainside at Fairmont is one of
the prettiest clubs in the Kootenay Rockies.
One of the Columbia Valley's most famous holes is Mountainside's notorious 'Fairmonster' -
a 640 yard straightaway par-five that, according to Head Pro Lorne Rowe, has never and may
never be reached in two from the back tee. "Once golfers finally reach the
green, redemption can be found in a spectacular view of Columbia Lake," says Lorne
with a smile.
New to Fairmont Hot Springs is a par-3 course, called 'Creekside'
which was designed by Bill Newis. "Feedback has been terrific on the par-3
course," says Lorne. With three sets of tees, ponds protecting a number of
greens, this short course is perfect for golfers of any skill level.
