Bavarian City Mining Railway/
Sullivan Mine Interpretive Centre

An authentic mining railway-cars tour.

Take a ride on the Bavarian City Mining Railway through switchbacks, and up steep slopes and sharp curves, as it winds through the narrow valley of Mark Creek. Enjoy the spectacular views and hear the fascinating history of a community in transition.

The railway links the downtown of Kimberley with the site of the old Sullivan Mine surface facilities and recent mine reclamation activities, and continues its route shuttling riders to the base of the Kimberley Alpine Resort.

The history of the Sullivan Mine, and the importance of mining in general , are to be preserved in an Interpretive Centre that is in the initial stages of development. Ultimately (2005), there will be a dramatic 20,000 sq. ft. modern building constructed to house audio-visual and interactive exhibits, and visitor services.  For now, a number of auxiliary attractions are in place or are "works in progress".

The Bavarian City Mining Railway is your connecting link. Come and ride the BCMR and see and enjoy all of the attractions. There is something for every partner of the family.
