4. Halcyon Hot
Springs History
The Arrow Lakes Historical Society provides this
entertaining account of the history of Halcyon Hot Springs, originally opened in 1894, and
closing with the fire of 1955, which saw the Hotel burned to the ground.
In March of 1999 the Halcyon Hot Springs Resort was
reopened after 44 years with chalets, campsites and plans for a 80 room lodge.

The sternwheeler S.S. Moyie, a National Historic site in the Village of

St. Eugene Mission
The St.
Eugene Mission was established in the late nineteenth century by
Father Coccolla. This historic building was an Indian
Residential School.
The
former school has been transformed into a resort which includes an
Interpretive Centre and an Arts and Crafts Cooperative. The
Centre provides visitors with an aboriginal perspective of the area,
its history and its people, and also provides guided excursions in
the traditional territory of the Ktunaxa.
